Practicing Positivity

Grade Levels K-5

To explore positive practices in our daily life and art-making, students use their art to positively impact their perspective. Inspired by ceramists, Roberto Lugo, students create and use positive affirmations. Answering the questions: What are tools I can use to promote a positive attitude? How can positive thinking change my perspective?

What lifts you?

Grade Levels 6-8

In this unit, students will examine, artist, Kelsey Montague's inspirational street art and interactive artwork. Students work through self-reflection, mind mapping and peer-groups to answer the questions: What lifts you? How do artists communicate visually? How can we lift others? How can we impact others with our artwork?

Social Justice: Representing our Perspective

Grade Levels 6-12

While diving into the lesson plan's essential questions; What social justice issue are you passionate about? Why is it important to you? students will identify and research a social justice issue they feel passionate about. The project culminates in an artwork that explores the results of their research and perspective of the social justice issue.
